Simonetta Soro
Singer, actress, Simonetta graduated in Singing at the “G.P. da Palestrina” in Cagliari Conservatory under the guidance of the soprano Maria Casula.
Simonetta made her debut singing the incidental music of Sophocles’ “Women of Trachis” at the Greek Theater in Syracuse, composed and conducted by Salvatore Sciarrino. Simonetta performed in numerous Italian cities, collaborated with various artists, associations and music festivals and participated in important theatrical works, such as: “Splendore e miseria della metropoli di New York” recital on B. Brecht directed by Marco Parodi; “Calderòn” by P.P. Pasolini and “Finnegans Wake” by J. Joice directed by Rino Sudano; “Yerma” by F. Garcia Lorca directed by Giovanni Lombardo Radice.
Simonetta has been a teacher of baroque singing at the Conservatory of Cagliari and has carried out an intense collaboration with Rai’s (national public broadcasting company) regional headquarters of Sardinia as a musical consultant, programmer, director, actress and singer.
In 1996 she began her collaboration in the field of traditional Sardinian music with Elena Ledda who she shares many musical experiences singing on stages around the world, also becoming the protagonist of a fascinating section of the shows dedicated to poetry in the Sardinian and Italian languages.
Simonetta has been teaching the workshops since the first edition.
